Thrivent Financial for Lutherans appoints Allan Spies to organization’s board of directors

MINNEAPOLIS (Aug. 31, 2005) – Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has named Allan R. Spies, Denver, Colo., to its board of directors. Spies is a former executive vice president and chief financial officer for USWest. Spies’ career includes roles as executive vice president and chief financial officer of USWest, vice president of finance with Media1, director and executive director of finance with USWest Communications and in various management positions with AT&T. “Allan has invaluable experience in financial strategy, investor relations and corporate business development,” said Bruce Nicholson, chairman, president and CEO of Thrivent Financial. “His contribution to the board will help Thrivent Financial continue to excel at our mission to serve our members.” Spies serves on the boards of eyeRIS Corporation, InfoNow Corporation, IPASS Corporation and Outward Bound-USA. He received a bachelor’s degree with honors in physics from California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, Calif., and a master’s degree in management science from Pace University, New York.
