Stellmacher’s career celebrated at Report to the Community

Just days prior to retirement, event honors Stellmacher for accomplishments

APPLETON, Wis. (May 25, 2010) – In addition to providing a financial and community update at its annual Report to the Community, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans joined with attendees to celebrate the extraordinary business and community accomplishments of Jon Stellmacher. The senior vice president and chief of staff and administration is set to retire June 1 after nearly 32 years of service at Thrivent Financial.

"Jon is a humble servant leader," said Brad Hewitt, president and chief executive officer of Thrivent Financial. "We have been blessed to have him at Thrivent Financial. And, I have no doubt, that the Fox Cities will continue to be blessed by Jon’s contributions in the future."

"Thirty-two years ago, Jon joined our organization as an actuarial student. At that time, he was content to sit in a corner crunching numbers all day long," Hewitt said. "But from day one, Jon's commitment to Thrivent Financial members set him apart. That commitment, along with his knowledge of the financial industry, exceptional management skills and his integrity, served him well as he moved up in the organization. Just as Jon helped Thrivent Financial address the changing needs of our members over three decades, he also responded to the needs of his community time and time again."

Stellmacher held various leadership positions since joining the organization in 1978. He assumed his most current role as chief of staff and administration in 2008. Stellmacher shared at the Report to the Community that he is very confident in the future of Thrivent Financial, which makes it easier to step away after 32 years of service.

"Thrivent has built a strong foundation and lasting legacy over the past 107 years," said Jon Stellmacher, senior vice president and chief of staff and administration of Thrivent Financial. "Our heritage and values, along with outstanding leaders, the intense drive to serve our members, and thoughtful, future-oriented strategy position Thrivent very well for next year and for the next hundred years."

Stellmacher also highlighted the many ways Thrivent Financial members and employees continue to make a positive impact in the Fox Cities and across the country. It's the same mission of making a difference in the lives of others that Stellmacher was committed to fulfilling throughout his career.

"There are many reasons I stayed at Thrivent Financial for 32 years. I've worked with great people; I've been challenged to grow as a leader both here at Thrivent Financial and in the community; but most of all because being part of this organization has given me the chance to really help people every day of every one of those 32 years."
