Thrivent Financial CIO Holly Morris named 2010 “Women in Business: Industry Leader” award winner
Morris one of 25 women named to list of top female executives
Morris was recognized for rising to the top levels of corporate executive management as well as the international IT scene, while gaining a following for her down-to-earth leadership style and dedication to the personal growth of those people on her teams. She has led the effort at Thrivent Financial to create a more effective and efficient infrastructure to better serve the organization’s 2.6 million members while simultaneously revamping the corporate and financial representative system infrastructures. “Holly’s drive to succeed and her ability to bring out the best in all around her is evident in everything she does,” says Brad Hewitt, president and CEO of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. “She has played a key role in helping position Thrivent Financial for future success for years to come.” An active member of the community, Morris also is playing a key role in developing the next generation of female leaders through local initiatives designed to help girls gain the knowledge, interest, and confidence to pursue careers in math and science, areas traditionally dominated by males. An alumna of Kent State University (Ohio) and the University of Minnesota, Morris currently serves as an advisor to the College of Saint Catherine’s Center for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) as well as for the Hennepin County Commissioners (IT). She is also a director for the YMCA of Metro Minneapolis and for Royal Cameron Corporation (Texas). In 2007, she was named to Insurance and Technology Magazine’s Elite 8 which recognized the nation’s outstanding CIOs.
