Spring issue of Thrivent magazine arriving now
Stories on faith, finance and volunteerism feature many members
| MINNEAPOLIS (April 21, 2010) – The latest issue of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ member magazine Thrivent features Thrivent members from across the country, each sharing their personal stories of faith, volunteerism and financial decision making.
In the Spring 2010 issue, the cover story “A Little Help From a Friend”, looks at how Thrivent members were touched by unexpected acts of kindness and help when they needed it most, including recovering from hurricane damage and getting through medical crises. In each case, other Thrivent members and their churches and communities didn’t wait to be asked, but rather, they reached out to help – offering manpower, a place to stay, cleaning a new home and other things that helped their fellow members get through tough times. Other featured articles include: • “Giving Together,” outlining a new program from Thrivent Financial which lets members help decide to which charities we donate. • “The Joy of Saving,” offering 15 ideas to help readers cut costs and save money. • “The Parent Trap,” providing insight into how parents can help new college graduates get off to a strong financial start despite the challenging economy and job market. • “Surviving Disaster,” offering guidance on how readers can prepare for an emergency after a natural disaster like a tornado, flood or hurricane. • “Ready, Set, Goal!” which recommends readers participate in a charity fundraising event as a way to keep focused on their fitness goal. • “Cultivating Goodwill,” which looks at how one Thrivent member is helping his community – and others throughout the world – learn how to garden and grow their own produce.
