Thrivent Financial names Fred Kraegel to board of directors

CPA brings 37 years of accounting, financial and operational experience to board

MINNEAPOLIS (June 13, 2008) – Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has named Frederick G. Kraegel of Richmond, Va., to its board of directors. Kraegel, a certified public accountant (CPA), brings 37 years of extensive strategic, financial and operational experience to the Thrivent Financial board.

Kraegel is a senior consultant with Bridge Associates, LLC, where he assists businesses with complex financial and operational issues. Bridge, a nationally recognized restructuring firm, has offices in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Cleveland, Tampa and Tulsa.

“Fred is a terrific addition to our board,” said Bruce Nicholson, Thrivent Financial chairman, president and CEO. “His financial experience and insights as well as his commitment to Lutheranism will serve our members well.”

Kraegel is the former senior vice president and chief financial officer of Best Products Co., Inc., where he was responsible for financial and administrative functions. He also served as executive vice president of finance and MIS for P.A. Bergner & Co. (now Carson Pirie Scott & Co.). He joined Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) in 1971 and was named a partner in 1980.

Kraegel serves as treasurer and executive committee member for the Valparaiso University board of directors. He also serves as a member of the board for Concordia Plan Services and is a trustee for various benefit plans.

Kraegel is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind., with a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.

Kraegel and his wife, Karen, are the parents of two adult children. They are members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond.
