Thrivent Financial members re-elect three incumbents to board of directors

Middeke, Senske and Hushagen re-elected to four-year terms


MINNEAPOLIS (April 14, 2008) – Members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans re-elected three incumbents to four-year terms on the organization’s 14-member board of directors. Paul W. Middeke, Kurt M. Senske and James M. Hushagen received the highest number of votes from benefit members during the election period of Oct. 15 – Nov. 30, 2007. The re-elected directors began their terms in February.

More than 168,000 Thrivent Financial benefit members cast votes in the election.

Middeke of St. Charles, Mo., was nominated by the North St. Charles County Chapter. He is the retired president and chief executive officer of Concordia Plan Services for the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.

Senske, Austin, Texas, was nominated by the El Paso County Chapter and the West Bexar County Chapter. He serves as president and chief executive officer of Lutheran Social Services of the South.

Hushagen of Edgewood, Wash., was nominated by the Mount Rainier Chapter. He is an attorney and member of the Eisenhower & Carlson law firm.

“Each of these directors brings extraordinary talent and experience in helping our organization fulfill its mission to improve the quality of life for our members, their families and communities,” said Bruce J. Nicholson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Thrivent Financial. “We are thankful for their willingness to serve our members in their role as directors of our organization.”

Thirteen Thrivent Financial members competed for the three open director positions.

Results of the election, as tabulated by the independent accounting firm of Schenck Business Solutions and certified by the Thrivent Financial board of directors election committee, are as follows:
